- March 4 – Herbert Hoover is sworn in, as the 31st president of the United States.
1930 AD
- October 12 – Legs Diamond was shot and wounded at the Hotel Monticello on Manhattan’s West Side. Two gunmen forced their way into Diamond’s room and shot him five times before fleeing. Still in his pajamas, Diamond staggered into the hallway and collapsed. When asked later by the New York Police Commissioner how he managed to walk out of the room, Diamond said he drank two shots of whiskey first. Diamond was rushed to the Polyclinic Hospital in Manhattan, where he eventually recovered/Fry, Leela, Bender and Hermes appear in a bar, in a Head trip, after Fry licked Herbert Hoover’s head. 1932 AD
- November 8 – 1932 United States presidential election: Democratic Governor of New York Franklin D. Roosevelt defeats Republican President Herbert Hoover in a landslide victory.
1933 AD
- January 17 – The United States Congress votes in favour of Philippines independence, against the wishes of U.S. President Herbert Hoover.
- March 4 – Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) is sworn in as the 32nd president of the United States, beginning his “first 100 days“. About the Great Depression, he proclaims “The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself” in his inauguration speech. It is the last time Inauguration Day in the United States occurs on March 4.
- Adolf Hitler declares his proclamation of Germany.
- In the second incarnation of the universe, Professor Farnsworth kills Hitler. (Alternate Second)
- In the third incarnation of the universe, Professor Farnsworth misses and kills Eleanor Roosevelt by mistake. (Alternate Third)
